Cosel Introduces Streamlined AC-DC Switching Power Supplies

Cosel Co. Ltd. launched its 300 & 600W, ac-dc switching power supply PLA series. The company states that its PLA Series is as reliable as its existing high end PBA Series, the difference being that the cost per watt for the PLA series substantially lower. Cosel claims that for many applications such as LED signs, automation and test equipment, the cost and space savings is dramatic. The PLA series has been designed with streamlined functions and smarter circuits as a basic concept. All electrolytic capacitors have 105°C rating, and the built-in fan lifetime is 50,000H at 60°C. Other features include, low 1U profile for the PLA300F (41mm, 1.61") and PLA600F (61mm, 2.4"). Options also include Conformal Coating for outside use, low leakage current, input voltage dip to meet semiconductor manufacturing requirements.

Cosel Introduced New DIN Rail Power Supply

Cosel Co. Ltd. has launched the KH Series of DIN Rail Power Supplies. These are available in 120, 240W with the 480W available soon. Each has Universal Input and 24Vdc output, designed to fit 35mm DIN Rail. The company states that its KH Series has a smaller footprint with an industry leading power density of up to 5.6W/in³ and efficiency up to 94%. The company says the KH series will be narrower than most competitive brands allowing more space on the DIN Rail. The KHEA has the EURO style connectors and the KHNA has a barrier block design. Both versions have UL508 and ISA12.12.01 (Class 1 Div 2) certifications. The KH series has been designed with standard features such as Remote Control, DC OK LED, built in DC OK relay contact, and Overload LED indicator. The Trim is located on the front for easy adjustment. With an operating temperature of -25 to 70°C the KH series will operate even in harsh of conditions.

Cosel DC/DC Converters with Industry Accepted Foot Print

Cosel USA has introduced its MG Series, a new generation of DC/DC converters which the company says combines high reliability and long life, with an industry standard 1X1 or 1X2 form factor. These 15 and 30W converters offer high power density and efficiency of up to 92%. The MG series is 30 to 40% smaller than the last generation, reducing the space required on the PCB. In addition the Cosel MG Series has 6 sided shielding. This means that valuable PCB space under the MG series can be used and no additional shielding is required. According to Cosel, many other manufacturers only provide 5 sided shielding, which dictates that the space under the dc-dc converter must be shielded or void of traces. In the course of use, surface mounted parts inside dc-dc converters can suffer mechanical stress resulting from changes in operating temperature. This can cause fatigue and cracks at the solder joints. Cosel uses a new soldering technique, along with a flexible potting material that significantly reduce stress on surface mounted components in the MG series, resulting in greater reliability and longer life. The warranty on the Cosel MG Series is 10 years.

New Cosel AC/DC Power Modules

Cosel Co. Ltd. has launched the TU Series of board level ac-dc power supplies. The TUNS50 and TUNS100 (50 & 100W) are available for immediate shipment. The TU series is a universal input PFC front end, and DC/DC converter combined in a single module. The TUNS50 comes in a compact 1/4 brick size and the TUNS100 comes in a 1/2 brick. This product was designed to reduce development time and board space requirements. Output voltages of 5, 12 and 24Vdc are standard. The output voltage can be adjusted using the standard trim pin if desired. The TU Series can operate at 100% output up to 75°C at the base plate and 50% of the rated capacity at 100°C base plate temperature. The TU includes built-in over current protection, over voltage protection and thermal protection circuits.
